How to Keep Your Hair Looking Great On Spring Break

Ahhhh, Spring Break!  Time to get away to somewhere warm.  Sun, Sand and the Ocean are what we need at this time of year.  Swimming, tanning and  watercrafts are the only things that should be on the agenda.  It's so good for our soul, but not so good for our hair!  Sun and chlorine are extremely damaging to our colour.  Wind and salt water causes our hair to feel like a rat's nest, while sand and sunscreen make our hair dirty and greasy!  Blah!  What's a girl to do?  Well, PonyDry is here to help.  We've got some great ways to keep your hair looking great on Spring Break!

1.  Get A Fresh Cut.

Split ends equals more porous hair, and that makes it easier for salt water and chlorine to be absorbed into your strands.  Simple solution is to make sure you get a quick trim before you fly away!  Skip the highlights though, since the sun can fade your colour!

2. Pack A Wide Brimmed Hat.

Not only are they super stylish and on-trend, but a wide brimmed hat is essential for protecting your hair from the sun's damaging rays.  It helps to preserve your colour and keeps your skin healthy too!

2.  Carry A Leave-In-Conditioner.

We all know the damage chlorine and salt water can do to our hair, so slip a bottle of leave-in-conditioner into your beach bag.  Spraying your strands before you swim means your hair will soak up the conditioner instead of the chlorine or salt water.  Make sure you wet your hair completely and thoroughly apply the conditioner in order to best protect your hair.  We recommend Hask Argan Oil 5-in-1 Leave-In Spray

3. Take A Break From The Heat

It's pretty common knowledge that hot styling tools like blow dryers, curling irons and straighteners are extremely damaging to your hair.  Why not take Spring Break off from it all, and let your hair air dry while you're away?  The trick is to use a wide tooth comb to detangle, a microfibre towel to gently squeeze the excess water, and any hydrating serum to prevent frizz.  The results will be surprisingly soft and your hair will appreciate a vacation from the heat.

4. Fight The Frizz

Humidity is enemy number ONE when is comes to frizzy hair.  The key to winning the war is to block out the humidity first.  You can accomplish this by smoothing an oil through your strands first thing in the morning.  We love Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Oil.  It can be applied to damp or dry hair, and really works to keep the Frizz away!

5. Hide The Grease

A sweatier body means greasier hair.  Obviously hot weather makes your body sweat, but did you ever think about the fact that your scalp sweats too?  While we love the heat for Spring Break, sweat causes the naturally occurring sebum to transfer through our hair, making it look greasy....not a great look!  Fix it quick with an absorbing dry Shampoo.  Our Fav is Batiste Dry Shampoo.  It's really affordable and available everywhere!

6. Rehab Upon Return

So the vacation was everything you dreamed it would be, but your hair just isn't.  Make sure you take a little time and effort once you're home to revitalize your 'do.  Look for some good treatments, such as Caviar Moisture Intense Oil Crème Pre-Shampoo Treatment.  In addition to boosting the moisturizing benefits of your existing shampoo and conditioner regimen, it moisturizes to revitalize dehydrated strands, leaving hair supremely smooth, soft and shiny!

7. PonyDry

Our amazing accessory can be used in the pool or ocean to protect your hair from the chlorine or salt water.  It's cute enough to wear on the beach to keep your style intact, protected from wind and sun, while you can easily wash the sand and sunscreen out of your roots with a quick rinse!  It's even great during a yoga class or run!  So pack a toothbrush, your bikini and a PonyDry and you'll have everything you need for an amazing Spring Break!
